Bio for Baden Hughes

A user of a range of TeX software since the early 1990's, Baden Hughes is currently a research fellow in the Language Technology Group of Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Melbourne. He battles esoteric TeX stylesheets from academic publishers on a regular basis :-).

Prior to moving into academia, Baden spent 10 years in various interesting corners of the IT industry, including areas such as:

• integrated digital workflows for editorial processing
• large scale digital publishing infrastructure for commercial on demand printing
• font development for non-Roman scripts in the Asia Pacific region
• character encoding for minority languages
• metadata standards for digital libraries

Baden has been an organisational delegate to international standards bodies such as the W3C and ISO.
